The Best Places to Stay at Joshua Tree National Park

The Bungalows by Homestead Modern sit within the sprawling, 152-acre campus of the historic Joshua Tree Retreat Center. Fourteen post-and-beam homes, originally designed by Harold Zook in 1960 to house the site's on-campus teachers, recently renovated and completely architecturally restored. Ranging from studios to suites, the cabins feature retro furnishings, a kitchenette, a fully equipped bathroom, and a king-sized bed. Guests have access to the swimming pool, Food for Thought Café, and classes in the adjoining Joshua Tree Retreat Center.

The article covers the full range of overnight options in the gateway towns of Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, and Twentynine Palms, from campgrounds inside the park to glamping and luxe house stays. National Geographic named The Bungalows among the best luxe house stays, calling out the mid-century modern vibe, the post-and-beam architecture, and access to the Retreat Center's pool and café.
