Built in the High Desert, for the High Desert

We have managed Joshua Tree's most distinctive vacation homes since 2014. Engage the High Desert with people who know every road, rock, and sunrise on it.

Our Story

Permit Number One

David McAdam obtained Yucca Valley's first short-term rental permit in 2014. There was no playbook. The portfolio grew through word of mouth, one well-run house at a time, until Homestead Modern became the largest collection of premium vacation properties in the area. In 2022 we opened The Bungalows inside the Joshua Tree Retreat Center, the first proper motel-style hospitality offering the High Desert had seen. Today we manage over 30 homes, a full-time staff of fourteen, and a reputation built on guests who come back and bring their friends. This is what it means to engage the High Desert with Homestead Modern as your guide.

What We Value

How We Run Things

Every home in our portfolio is chosen for its design, its setting, or both. We don't manage anything we wouldn't stay in ourselves. Booking is straightforward, pricing is transparent, and our team is reachable by text. We pay fair wages, support the Mojave Desert Land Trust, and prioritize native plants and renewable energy across our properties. None of that is marketing copy. It's just how we've run things since the beginning.
